About Us
Deanwood Holiday Cottages and Campsite in the Forest of Dean
is now managed by Geoff and Anita Barry.
”Great efforts have been made to bring to life these cottages from humble beginnings in 2011 to Enjoy England Tourist Board’s 3 star grading for self-catering and a score of 100% for Cleanliness shortly after. Our aim now is to maintain the charm that has been created here whilst adding our touches. With a background in joinery Geoff has renovated The Cottage, returning it to it’s former rustic charm. Deanwood Campsite, with its panoramic views to the west over the Lyd Valley and beyond, has re-opened to include children over the age of three, however, we do encourage all to respect the tranquillity that Deanwood is renowned for.
We look forward to welcoming you all back again to Deanwood, Forest of Dean!”
WHERE WE ARE
Forest of Dean
Five hundred and sixty feet above sea level, Deanwood is tucked away on the edge of The Royal Forest of Dean about half a mile south from Yorkley village. The location appeals to nature lovers with its quiet setting, stunning views and dark skies; where deer, including the white deer, many birds and sometimes wild boar can be seen.
To find us, the postcode GL15 4TY will take you half way down Yorkley Wood Road. From there keep following the road straight ahead, following the signs to Deanwood until you come to our gates, signed for the Campsite and The Cottages. We are three miles from the main A48 Gloucester to Chepstow road. Details for caravans and motorhomes are found in ‘’Getting Here’’.
Deanwood is within easy walking distance to Yorkley village where there are two pubs and two general stores supplying fresh food
and supplies.
The town of Lydney is three miles away, with its three supermarkets and a good selection of takeaways.

We welcome well behaved dogs on both our campsite and in nine of our cottages. We also offer a list for our guests of local places that accept dogs and those that don't. Even Thompson and Thomson (pictured above) welcome well behaved dogs.
Facilities
On site there are modern shower and toilet blocks, and a wash-up and laundry room, all free for our guests to use.
Local area
The Forest of Dean is a reasonably compact area, so many of its attractions are within a 10-15-minute drive and some within walking distance through the forest.
