''The walk in the forest is amazing. Steam train runs through the local villages, worth a ride. We ate at a really friendly pub in Whitecroft called The Miners Arms, food was superb. Perfect for walking or mountain biking.''

There is a path (where the wild boar roam) where you can save a good half a mile instead of using the roads.''

''Lydney Harbour. There is a small car park and parking spaces on the approach road. On some maps we looked at it appeared that there was only a walking route. Close to the heritage railway station.''

''Walked to Lydney through ten acre wood and dropped in to the honey bee cafe. Small but friendly even with 2 little dogs.
We walked a long walk to the rising sun pub for lunch through Pillow Well village and amazing woodland. Would recommend this pub.
Steam train ride with the dogs was fun and a lovely walk at Mallard Pike. A superb site that was quiet and peaceful. Just what we had hoped for and more.''

''Bailey Inn within walking distance. Bathurst Outdoor Pool and Taurus Crafts a 5-min drive away and direct access into the Forest of Dean for walkers.''

''Don`t arrive between 3pm and 4pm as you approach via a school lane and it can be quite tricky with a car never mind a whole unit in tow because of all the cars parked while picking up their loved ones from school.
Look out for loose sheep wandering about at the roadside.... quite a novelty''

''Go on a mini adventure by taking a walk out the side gate that leads directly into the forest.
Nearby Beechenhurst is a great location for kids and adults alike. Play area, cafe and various routes to take a walk including a Zog trail and sculpture trail.''

''We visited over a weekend and enjoyed walking in the forest, cycling the family friendly tracks. We hired bikes from the Pedalaway centre before arrival and found the service great. The forest tracks are great for all levels of rider and it was easy to remain off road for the whole day.''

Forest walks are easily reached by a short walk although steep into Pillowell
This part of the forest was generally clear of mud.
The steam railway in nearby Parkend is worth visiting which is about a 3 mile walk from the site.''

A long walk through the Forest helps to appreciate life.''

''It's the perfect place if you love walks or cycling and a peaceful quiet surrounding. The Rising Sun pub isn't far and the food is amazing if you want to eat out.''
